A custom pillow using a vintage or new varsity jacket! Is that varsity jacket taking up space in your closet? Your husband can't part with it? Then this pillow is a perfect upcycle and it will be a great addition to the man cave. This custom pillow is for you him (or you!) It makes a great accent for your home or a unique gift.

This listing is for a unique pillow that will include a pillow insert. You provide the varsity jacket. You can let me know what motifs you would like included on the front and back of the pillow cover. I will work with you to determine the size and arrangement of those motifs. In addition, I will discuss whether or not you would like a fabric border.

The red pillow had a large motif, so I did not use a border fabric. My customer selected a white wool fabric to back the pillow and I appliqued various pieces she had sent me from her husband's jacket.

The last photo shows pillows created for teen girls using their father's varsity jacket. I coordinated the colors with a fun, "girly" fabric.

This pillow is constructed with excellent workwomanship. The jacket snaps or a zipper opening will enable you to remove the pillow insert for cleaning.

Pillow are not limited to T Shirts. I can use jerseys, work shirts, sweatshirts and even jeans!

The turnaround time depends on the number of items in my custom sewing queue. It is best to plan as far as possible in advance, especially if you are considering giving one as a gift in December(holidays) or May (graduations). You can request a rush order. If I can accommodate you, there will be a $25 additional charge. Currently, quilt blankets require 6-7 months. Pillows, 2-4 weeks.

No. A traditional quilt is made of three layers: the top, a middle layer of batting and a cotton bottom. The batting can shift and bunch so the quilt has to be stitched or “quilted” through the three layers. Maiden Jane blankets have two layers: the top and a cozy fleece bottom. There is no need for batting. The blankets are top-stitched and tacked down to keep the layers stable. The fleece provides a cozy and comfortable backing that is not as stiff as a traditional quilt. I can make a traditional quilt but the cost and time involved increases significantly.

I have made these quilts for over ten years. My customers testify that they are quite durable. My own children have used their blankets at college as throws and picnic blankets. They wash up very nicely. Will they be heirlooms in 100 years? I don’t know! But they are surely a “practical and pretty” way to get T Shirts out of your closet and drawers!
